What Happened When I Stopped Scheduling and Started Listening

By Jerry Grundman

Rigid routines weren’t working. When I started following my own rhythm instead of the rules, everything shifted.

For years, I tried to force my creative work into neat boxes: 9–11 AM strategy. 11–12 content. Afternoons for admin.

Sounded smart. Didn’t work.

What changed everything? I started building rhythms instead of rigid routines.

Now I ride the wave:

  • Capture ideas when they’re fresh.

  • Batch content when I’m on fire.

  • Step away without guilt when I’m drained or uninspired.

It’s not lazy. It’s leveraged.

And it’s brought more output, and more peace, than any “perfect system” ever did.

If your current system isn’t working, maybe it’s not you.

Maybe it’s the system.
